Hi! My name is Ms. Kelly and I am your fourth grade teacher! This is my second year teaching at Bangert, but my tenth year teaching altogether. I have taught third, fourth, and fifth grades, but teaching the fourth grade curriculum is my absolute favorite!
I graduated from Appalachian State University in 2000 with a degree in Elementary Education and a concentration in psychology. My teaching career began in the mountains-Asheville (2 years). I took a break from teaching, and worked in the restaurant business for a while. When I decided to get back in education, I found a job in Winston Salem, where I taught for 6 years. I moved to Pamlico County during the summer of 2014, and began my journey here at Bangert last fall.
I enjoy the outdoors: hiking, camping, fishing and sports. I played soccer for 13 years, played rugby for 4 years, and I am an avid runner.
I was born in Asheville, and the majority of my family still resides in the mountains, more specifically, Black Mountain. I grew up in a military family, living on both the east and west coast. However, most of my life has been spent in my home state of North Carolina. I actually attended Arthur W. Edwards when it was West Havelock during my elementary years, before my dad received orders to California. I enjoy living back here on the coast, and thought it would be a great place to raise my children. Madelyn is 14 and entering high school and Samuel is 9. He will be in the fourth grade here at Bangert this year.
